Welcome to Alice Walk’s blog! We’ve named it You + Blue, as a tribute to our signature “Alice Walk blue” color that you can find in our packaging, our showroom, and especially in some of our best-loved fabrics. We hope that this blog can serve as a window into our brand, allowing you to see the style icons, favorite outfits, and inner workings that inspire us at Alice Walk, day in and day out. During the past few weeks here at AW, we have been preparing for our upcoming pop-up shops in two of the most iconic summer travel destinations in the Northeast- Nantucket and the Hamptons. These coastal hideaways are known for their stunning scenery and relaxing way of life, both of which keep people returning year after year.
For our first “Ladies We Love” post, we wanted to feature our favorite summer style icons, whose timelessly chic outfits wouldn’t be a bit out of place today on the beaches of Montauk or the sidewalks of Siasconset. We hope that their looks will provide some inspiration for your next summer getaway.
Jackie Kennedy Onassis
Why We Love Her: As a frequent visitor of Martha’s Vineyard and Hyannis Port, Jackie O is the queen of summer fashion. Jackie’s vacation style has a timeless feel to it, as she typically wears more classic silhouettes, but she pairs them with vibrant prints and colors to keep the look youthful and chic.
What She’s Wearing: Here at AW, we love a fun printed fabric, and both of Jackie’s outfits do not disappoint. Her yellow and white checkered dress is fresh and bright, and the clean silhouette and statement earrings give the look sophistication. In her second outfit, Jackie couples her colorful skirt with a classic collared blouse to “dress up” the outfit.
Audrey Hepburn
Why We Love Her: What makes Audrey Hepburn one of our style inspirations is her ability to create outfits with an easy elegance, and this elegance is apparent in even her most casual of outfits. Audrey’s iconic style is a testament to the fact that simplicity in fashion doesn’t need to be boring.
What She’s Wearing: For her walk on the beach, Audrey is wearing a long sleeved navy shirt tucked into medium wash high waisted jeans. This outfit is perfect for the evening time at the beach - the jeans provide protection from the cool sea breeze, while the long sleeved tee is breathable enough for any temperature.
Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy
Why We Love Her: Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy is a master of effortless, off-duty ensembles. She combines traditional wardrobe staples in monochrome colors and styles them in a way that gives off a breezy, leisurely vibe while still being put-together.
What She’s Wearing: For a laid back daytime look, Carolyn is wearing an oversized white buttoned up shirt with slightly distressed denim jeans. She pairs this with round tortoiseshell glasses to combat the sun’s midday glare.
Lauren Hutton
Why We Love Her: Lauren Hutton is a fantastic example of a style icon who seems to radiate confidence and grace no matter what she’s wearing. Lauren’s style is frequently described as being “all-American,” which perfectly encapsulates the classic, timeless nature of her wardrobe.
What She’s Wearing: You can’t go wrong with a navy and white color palette for the summer - especially if it’s striped. Lauren is wearing a more casual navy and white striped tee with a white sweater around the shoulders, coupled with wide flare white pants. For the perfect final touch, Lauren wears a nautical navy belt with crisp white piping.
